It is Jake's belief that a piece should not only look beautiful and harmonious from across the room, but should also offer more to discover the closer you get. Some details can only be felt when running your hands over the piece, and others may be discovered by surprise after living with it for some time. This philosophy had a tremendous impact on his approach to furniture building.
Each Maughan Made piece is sparked by a fresh perspective and quickly transforms into a functional and inspired creation that can also be appreciated for its beauty alone.
My name is Jake Maughan and I was born and raised in North Vancouver, BC. Fuelled by a strong desire to create with my hands, I studied under renowned craftsman and Krenov protege, Robert Van Norman, at the Inside Passage School of Fine Woodworking on BC's Sunshine Coast.
